The Military offers through correspondence courses, on many different subject matters. From accounting to law enforcement, members of the Auxiliary can take most of these courses.

Among the many offerings are courses that can help the Public Affairs Staff Officer. Their are courses on writing, interacting with the media, and photography to name a few.

Below are the listings of the Armed Services Correspondence Schools.

Defense Information School
The course objective is to provide instruction in theory, concepts, and policies of public affairs, community relations, and media communications to include print and broadcast journalism

Army Course Program
The United States Army Correspondence Course Program offers courses in many subject areas, including journalism and public affairs.

Coast Guard Institute
The Coast Guard Institute offers courses in many subject areas, including search & rescue, marine science technician, port operations, map reading, basic mathematics, ice observer, honors and ceremonies, navigation rules, and Public Affairs Specialist.

Air Force Institute
The Air Force Institute for Advanced Distributed Learning offers correspondence courses in many similar subject areas, including public affairs.

FAA Course Catalog
The Federal Aviation Administration catalog offers correspondence courses in a number of specialty areas, including Introduction to Computers, Briefing and Presentation Techniques, Writing Improvement, Principles of Instruction, and more.
